When Jacqueline Snape started driving Uber in South Florida, she expected traffic, airport runs, and a way to make some money.
She did not expect a 300-pound cat.
Or Miami chickens.
Or passengers who turned ten-minute rides into comedy routines, therapy sessions, cultural exchanges, arguments, confessions, life lessons, and stories she'd still be telling years later.
And that was only the beginning.
One Year. Thousands of Miles. Countless Stories.
During Jacqueline's first year behind the wheel, thousands of strangers climbed into her car.
There were tourists and locals. Rich people and struggling people. Children who made her laugh, adults who left her speechless, celebrities she recognized and at least one she didn't, drunk passengers, airport travelers, unforgettable characters, and people who simply needed someone to talk to.
Some rides were hilarious.
Some were ridiculous.
Some were unexpectedly beautiful.
And a few scared the hell out of her.
Life Was Moving Too
While passengers came and went, Jacqueline's own life was changing too.
After years of living with chronic pain, driving Uber gave her the opportunity to not only help support her family, but finally do something about the pain that had limited her life for so long.
Along the way, she also became a certified life coach and began building a new career. But even as new doors opened, she kept finding her way back to the driver's seat.
Because somewhere along the way, Uber had become more than work.
Not Every Ride Was About the Destination
There are laughs in this book. A lot of them.
But underneath the chaos are the rides that stayed with her.
A mother who needed another mother's understanding. A stranger who needed answers instead of judgment. A child who offered a hug when words weren't available. Passengers who entered the car as complete strangers and, for twenty minutes or an hour, shared a little piece of their lives.
That's the strange thing about driving Uber.
